Trip to Peru
We have been inspired by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ to help the lame walk!
The Department of Physical Therapy is excited to be joining Joni & Friends on an international trip with “Wheels for the World!” While serving as the “heart, hands and feet of Christ,” we will provide a means of mobility to individuals who often cannot leave their homes and be part of the community. Through the distribution of refurbished wheelchairs specifically fit to the needs of the individual with a disability, or with crutches, canes or walkers, those marginalized by society will now be included! Physical therapy evaluations and treatments will also be provided to those seeking our services.
Prior to our departure, students and faculty will complete special training in the Joni & Friends “Beyond Suffering” curriculum so the physical and spiritual needs of each patient can be addressed as part of the comprehensive care needed by each patient.
The total cost of this trip is $75,000. The students and faculty are committed to this fundraising effort. We are pursuing donations from grants, foundations, our alumni, the community AND you to make this dream a reality!
