HSU Lacrosse Team
HSU Lacrosse is a sports club with Hardin-Simmons University for both men and women who are passionate about lacrosse.
- Offer students at HSU an opportunity to learn, participate and enjoy the sport of lacrosse in a faith enriched environment.
- Engage in activities outside the classroom related to community involvement, fundraisers, and sponsors.
- Strive to grow the game of lacrosse in Abilene.
In general, Lacrosse in West Texas is very scarce and we see this as our opportunity to bring a new sport to Abilene, be pioneers in this endeavor and grow the game to teach others.
These players are very well the future coaches and officials to help Abilene start a youth league and build something really special. During the HSU Fall Preview, we were able to interact with several of the youth who attended.
Men's Lacrosse Team will compete in the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) in the Lone Star Alliance (LSA), Division 2 starting Spring 2018. If we are able to purchase equipment, the men have been invited to scrimmage by ACU, TTU, DBU, Tarleton State, Texas A&M and others in the Spring of 2017.
Women's Lacrosse was officially voted into the Women's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (WCLA) in the Texas Women's Lacrosse League (TWLL) Division 2. We are slated to play a ten game schedule this Spring against teams like TTU, TSU, SHSU, Baylor, UNT, UTSA, Texas State and SMU. HSU will get to host a 6-game series between HSU, TTU, UNT, and UTSA. It should be a fun-filled weekend of games!
The two teams are actively fundraising. We have done three to date (El Chico, Buffalo Wild Wings and Jason's Deli). We will be working other avenues to generate funds down the road (Tshirt sales and other ideas).
