Student Bible Project

In 2013, Hardin-Simmons University began the tradition of providing every incoming student with a Bible (at no cost to the student). Since then, Hardin-Simmons Alumni and Friends have raised funds to purchase over 2,500 custom purple and gold HSU embossed leather Bibles for new students through the Student Bible Project.

For just $17.50, we invite you to help continue this tradition and help impact the life of a student.

Many students come to Hardin-Simmons with their own Bible, but there are many that come without– either they never had one, received one as a young child or do not yet understand the importance of carrying one. This Bible symbolizes the beginning of their faith journey here at Hardin-Simmons. Your gift helps us exemplify the value of a faith-based education to our students.

While the practice of providing custom Bibles has recently become a tradition on our campus, it is built upon the very principles on which the university was founded. Hardin-Simmons remains firmly committed to teaching Christian principles and values.

What does it cost?

The cost for each Bible is $17.50 (tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law). Assuming we have between 625-650 incoming students, we will need to raise at least $11,000.

What is Stampede
Stampede seeks to familiarize new students with HSU life, the campus community, and the city of Abilene. Throughout the week, we strive to instill a love for Hardin-Simmons as we teach students the heritage and traditions that make HSU unique. While much of this is done through fun, our ultimate purpose is to glorify our Heavenly Father and honor Him in all we do and experience.

Can you buy one for yourself?
Yes, we are pleased to offer you the opportunity to purchase one of the purple/gold HSU Bibles for yourself once you have purchased one for a student. The cost for you to buy a Bible is $22.50 (includes shipping).

Version: NIV.

This year, we changed the Bible to be solid purple with a gold embosses HSU and gold binding. The bible is also larger (5.5 x 8.5) in size and font.
