HURRICANEHARVEY RELIEF RIDE
HSU Leadership Studies Program
For the past five years, students in the Leadership Studies Program have pedaled their ways across Texas and to Canada to practice the skills and concepts that they study in their leadership and organization classes. This year, a team of students willride to raise funds for Hurricane Harvey relief.
About the Ride
The ride will cover more than 700 miles of Texas from Farwell toSurfside Beach in the weeks before the Spring 2018 semester starts up inJanuary. The shortest of our BRAT (Bike Ride Across Texas) rides to date,this ride will be the first for the team in cold weather. Five bravestudents, one faculty member, and two HSU family friends are currently trainingand making ready for the weather and miles of the trip.
The route will go through Farwell, Lockney, Spur, Abilene,Comanche, Briggs, La Grange, West Columbia, and Surfside Beach. The teamhas lined up lodging at churches and homes of HSU alumni and friends. 100% of the funds raised through this venture will go to Hurricane Harveyrelief efforts. HSU will process all tax-deductible contributions andwork with partner agencies to distribute the funds.
